To ex-Scn and Sea Org friends,
doubt:
n. 2. uncertain state of things, lack of full proof.
(Concise Oxford Dictionary).
Pope John-Paul II and
Mother Teresa both confessed doubt in their faith at the end of their
lives: that's what made them so compelling and effective.
Doubt
is the wellspring of exploration, knowledge and creativity.
In
Scn, however, doubt is a "lower condition" with drastic
penalties (as in other cults, I'm sure). Any wavering or disagreement
or just plain doubt about LRH, the "church", its
activities, or its current dictator (Miscavige) is considered a
crime. viz Orwell's "1984" and "thought
crime".
LRH himself provided a formula for resolving the
"doubt condition" which every active Scn. knows.
DOUBT
IS NOT A CRIME!
Here is LRH's Doubt Formula in
full:
"The Condition of Doubt:
When one cannot
make up one's mind as to an individual, a group, organization or
project, a Condition of Doubt exists.
The formula is:
1.
Inform oneself honestly of the actual intentions and activities of
that group, project or organization, brushing aside all bias and
rumor.
2. Examine the statistics of the individual, group, project
or organization.
3. Decide on the basis of "the greatest good
for the greatest number of dynamics" whether or not it should be
attacked, harmed or suppressed or helped.
4. Evaluate oneself or
one's own group, project or organization as to intentions and
objectives.
5. Evaluate one's own or one's group, project or
organization's statistics.
6. Join or remain in or befriend the
one which progresses toward the greatest good for the greatest number
of dynamics and announce the fact publicly to both sides.
7. Do
everything possible to improve the actions and statistics of the
person, group, project or organization one has remained in or
joined.
8. Suffer on up through the conditions in the new group if
one has changed sides, or the conditions of the group one has
remained in, if wavering from it has lowered one's status."
If
applied honestly, and with adequate research, application of this
formula would cause a majority of active Scn's to walk out and slam
the door!
Most members have doubts, however deeply buried.
They are not blind, just conditioned.
DOUBT IS NOT A
CRIME!
DOUBT IS NOT A LOWER CONDITION. IT'S ACTIVE
INTELLIGENCE.

Being on staff in a lower org has variations all of its own. If you are
a lowly central files clerk or book seller, you are going to have a
much easier time of it than a top executive or top tech terminal for
that org (ahem.)
The below applies to the latter. For the rest of you it's not that
hard, really. You can walk out and most likely nobody will bother with
it, too much admin.
But for the others:
The org will try to throw at you all these arbitraries as to why you
can't leave. They told me I needed to replace myself, that I needed to
go to a higher org and pay for the Sec Check, that I needed to continue
to work there on a full schedule after my contract was complete "as the
routing form is not complete so you are still on staff."
Essentially, there must already be a conviction within you to leave or
else these words or another's on here will not give you enough strength
to withstand the immense, intense, relentless, persuasive,
manipulative, hypnotic PRESSURE you will receive to stay right where
you are.
You must be willing to have all your overts from back to the Ark thrown in your face.
You must be willing to be threatened with being declared and losing all your connections and friends.
You must be willing to have all the other staff treat you like you have killed their spouse.
You must be willing to have a lot of sleepless nights wondering when you will ever get to the other side.
And finally, when it becomes evident that the other side is just too
damn far down the road, to say the hell with it and walk out, and never
look back.
Cuts the time down nicely actually.
Have faith in your ability to survive outside the group. Their has been
a subtle hypnotic suggestion throughout that you need that group to
survive.
You don't.

Dang Type 4!
What happened to you sounded so similar to what happened to me that I
had to log on & post just to be sure my identity wasn’t hijacked!!
I ended up walking out too. I tried to do everything standardly but there wasn’t anyway to accomplish that.
It was completely insane.
I couldn’t get routed off, I was expected to replace myself, & the
horrible reg cycles to get me to sign a new contract were straight from
hell.
The decision to walk away really did cut down the time it took to get it done.
The church uses things like contracts, "responsibility to the group”
& your “eternity” to create feelings of guilt, torment &
hopelessness. Plus all of the old stand-bys in the “ethics tech”.
It doesn’t matter how dedicated you’ve been or how fair you have tried
to be. The church is only interested in getting another pound of flesh.
This becomes more obvious once the decision to leave is carried out.
Walk out the door & discover for yourself the immense pleasure in
LAUGHING YOUR ASS OFF at a letter sent to you “ordering” you to report
someplace.
YOU QUIT! YOU DON’T TAKE ORDERS FROM THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY ANYMORE!!!
It is a great feeling to be able to acknowledge that to yourself.
Finally consider this--as I did on my way out the door--LRH wrote
something like this (I still don’t have the reference for it) but it
was something that set me free:
A thetan is only trapped as long as he considers himself trapped.
All he has to do is change his mind & he can just walk right out.

After 29 years of the cult's crap forced on me,
it took only one afternoon to wake me up. The organizations are not
doing well, lack of public and lack of money. When this occurs, heavy
pressure from managment gets forced on staff. This is turn is forced
onto the public. The pressure these days to pay for your next service,
to donate to the IAS, to put in more course time is tremendous. But
there is a good side to this. Public can only take so much until the
walls start cracking and they can truly see how brainwashed they have
become. The scientology organization is destroying it's own. People are
leaving .
Leaving scientology or even thinking about leaving can be life
shattering. Just realize you are not alone. Talk to others who have
gone before you . It doesn't have to be a scary road ahead if you know
that there are people outside who care about you . Those inside the
organization can only use the hubbard tech to help and we all know
where that will get you.
